American College of Healthcare Sciences
“The Wonderlic tools help us to better streamline the process we use to evaluate and hire qualified staff and adjunct faculty members who support our mission.”
The American College of Healthcare Sciences, based in Portland, Oregon, maintains its mission of providing leadership in holistic health education through comprehensive professional online and on-campus education and high quality natural products with a commitment to sustainable practices and principles.
Wonderlic Tools a Winning Combination for School
In an effort to improve the hiring process for personnel and adjunct faculty at the American College of Healthcare Sciences, president Dorene Petersen implemented Wonderlic’s employee assessment tools.
The college’s mission is to provide leadership in holistic health education through comprehensive professional online and on-campus education and high quality natural products with a commitment to sustainable practices and principles. “The Wonderlic tools help us to better streamline the process we use to evaluate and hire qualified staff and adjunct faculty members who support our mission,” Peterson explains.
ACHS uses Wonderlic’s four step Talent Acquisition System, a customized employee pre-screening questionnaire, the Wonderlic Personnel Test - Quicktest, the Wonderlic Comprehensive Personality Profile, and the Wonderlic Personnel Test - Revised. Job applicants at ACHS complete Wonderlic’s testing to measure their knowledge, skills, and ability to meet specific job requirements.
Used together, the tests create a powerful, customizable assessment of a candidate’s ability to be successful in a job.
“We are looking for applicants who are highly motivated, committed, and dedicated to our students’ goals,” says Petersen. “… applicants who have appropriate experience, strong communication skills, and who embrace the particular strengths and challenges of higher education in general, and the online, interactive distance-learning model of ACHS in specific.”
Using the combination of assessments gives Peterson confidence she’ll find those traits in her applicant pool. Another benefit of using the Wonderlic system, she says, is the efficiency and time savings involved in pre-screening applicants.
“By pre-screening applicants before the interview process, we are better able to streamline the hiring process by pre-organizing the information needed from each candidate to help select the most appropriate hire,” she notes.
ACHS chose Wonderlic because of their ability to customize testing metrics for specific positions, and the experience they bring to the hiring table.
“Wonderlic has many years of proven success with education and employment assessments, and we felt the quality of candidates for admissions staff and adjunct faculty hired with the help of Wonderlic’s tools provide a greater benefit for our students,” Petersen says.
